I think the economy of a country sometimes takes the economic system for granted. It is not only the case of USA only but it is the case for most of the country. I think the United States appeared to be a financially most developed country and this is why people of United States seemed to consider themselves as superior from a financial perspective. It is a characteristic of countries having capitalism. It is because all the people other than USA believe that USA can give better opportunity to the youths. Capitalism gives opportunities to individuals and it makes it superior to another economic system.
